Lutrānyks¶
Otter Folk
I lost a hat to the river once. A Lutranyk child surfaced with it before I’d finished cursing, offered it back with both hands, and asked whether I’d attempted to teach them a new game. These folk (allegedly Denēlia’s doing, like the other beast-kindreds) stand rarely above four feet even in old age; with compact bodies, thick fur, long whiskers, and webbed hands. Their halls are bank dens, anchored floats, and lodges where the ceiling beams sit low enough that most creatures over five-foot must remain bowed.
Lutranyk life runs on community, loud play, and trade along shallows and estuaries. Unlike their Myran neighbors, Lutranyks can only breathe air, and thus, stay rooted to the surface world. Living about 50–70 years, Lutranyks keep commerce with Ārdans, trade in gossip and goods with Shelduryks, and argue good-naturedly with Lakrenyks.
